Charlotte Jones Opticians is an independent optical shop at 509 9th Avenue in Hell's Kitchen. We sell frames ready for your prescription, non-prescription and blue-light filtering eyewear, polarized clip-ons, safety and sport frames, and the accessories that keep any of it on your face.
Fit is described by numbers rather than by photographs. Every frame is listed with lens width, bridge width and temple length in millimetres — the same three figures printed inside the arm of the pair you are wearing now. Matching those numbers is a far better predictor of comfort than a picture on a screen.
We also carry the tinted filter glasses that some people living with macular degeneration, glaucoma or cataracts find useful for contrast and glare. We describe them exactly that way. They are not a treatment, they do not restore vision, and the right first conversation is with your eye doctor rather than with a shop.
How we work
- What we stock: Eyeglass frames, reading and blue-light eyewear, sunglasses and clip-ons, safety and sport eyewear, retainers and grips, and low vision filter glasses.
- Lenses: Frames ship with demo or clear lenses. Take them to an optician — including ours — to have your prescription glazed.
- How to size a frame: Look inside the left temple arm of your current glasses for three numbers, e.g. 52-18-140, and match them to our listings.
- Visit the shop: 509 9th Ave. Monday to Friday 09:30-18:00, Saturday 10:30-17:00.
